Initial Client Brief
Our client wanted quality bathroom renovations in Mt Annan to make it safe and accessible for an elderly relative with mobility restrictions. The main goal was to make it easier for the relative to be able to use the bathroom without any assistance from another family member.
Design and Construction
Taking this specific brief into consideration, DCON Group conceptualised an accessible bathroom design and renovations that included a step-free shower, grab rails and a shower curtain that made the bathroom easier to use while maximising safety. Despite having a small area to work with, we were able to open up the floor space by creating one level without any steps or disruptions, allowing for easier movement across different areas of the bathroom. A handheld shower and grab rails were installed to make it easier for our client’s relative to use the bathroom without any help – giving them more flexibility and freedom.
The Final Result
The team at DCON Group carefully considered every aspect – including flooring, fixture placement and space – with seamless accessibility in mind. Without any interruptions to the shower area along with the grab rails, anyone with mobility issues can now easily use the bathroom with minimal safety risks. The entire space was opened up to create a comfortable, modern and accessible bathroom – on time and on budget.
The demand for accessible bathroom designs in residential properties has been increasing in Sydney due to our ageing population and the constraints of aged care availability. Simple changes and renovations to your existing bathroom could help make the space safer for your elderly or mobility-restricted family members – allowing them to use the bathroom without any assistance for a longer period of time.
